  • Manage the middle school/high school campus in its initial year of operation, with sole responsibility for student and staff discipline, the implementation of the BC graduate program, and extra-currcular events such as Friday Clubs and After School Enrichment classes  

  • Utilize past experience and a comprehensive understanding of the school’s vision to advise the principal and program director on all important matters, including school policy, necessary professional development, communication with parents and upcoming events

  • Cultivate a positive work environment for the staff by creating opportunities for cross-curricular collaboration, constructing online forums for resource sharing, providing feedback through informal and formal evaluations and organizing staff events


LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER (G6-10) –BC COLLEGIATE, SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA

August 2013 – Present

  • Restructured the Language Arts program and collaborated with the ESL teacher to include weekly grammar and vocabulary workshops, layered curriculum projects, literature circles and authentic, skill-based preparation for Provincial Exams

  • Iniated a Mentorship Club for middle school and elementary school students which facilitated an opportunity for all ELL students to further develop their reading and writing strategies

  • Received the George Vancouver Award for “seek[ing] out new opportunities, technologies and resources and bring[ing] them to [my] oen and others’ classrooms”

  • Scaffolded lessons through the use of teacher modeling, guided reading, cooperative learning activities and technology

  • Communicated with parents consistently by creating bi-weekly newsletters, Friday Folders, and Star of the Week journal entries

  • Employed a variety of strategies to encourage character development and social skills, including empathy exercises, class- and team-building activities, and the implementation of a “thought box”

  • Promoted an active ESL learning environment for Korean children ages 5-12 by creating extension activites that were engaging and best suited to the student’s needs
